The retention cadence that wins repeat revenue

Most small businesses treat retention as an afterthought. They send a single, late reminder and hope it works. The data says otherwise.

A consistent three-touch cadence — awareness, urgency, recovery — produces 2-3x the repeat rate of a single touch. The key is not sending more messages, it is sending the right message at the right moment in the customer's cycle.

Touch 1 (Day -5): a soft awareness reminder. This is the most valuable touch because it gives the customer time to act without feeling pressured. The copy should be informational, not promotional.

Touch 2 (Day 0): the urgency touch. The customer is now in the buy window. Be specific about the offer and reduce friction to reorder.

Touch 3 (Day +3): a reactivation touch for anyone who has not ordered. Keep it short. Do not chase — just remove the barrier to returning.
